Hello Creative Souls!!,

I am so happy to invite you to register for our third annual Jewish Songwriting Cooperative Retreat!! Here is some information: Where: Endicott College, Beverly MA When: Sunday, July 12 (registration is 2-4:00 pm) to Wednesday, July 15 (1:00) Cost: $645 double/$725 single (all-inclusive)

For you to know-

Join us for the third annual Jewish Songwriting Cooperative Retreat. The four-day intimate retreat will be filled with song swaps, tefilah, workshops, prompts, co-writing, eating and creating together. This retreat is structured somewhat differently than other Jewish or secular music conferences that you may have attended. There is no faculty at this retreat- the concept is that this is a cooperative where we all have gifts to share and all have things to learn.

At this retreat, we will stay in modern suite-style dorms, with AC, a kitchenette, living space and a bathroom. We will be meeting in the college interfaith chapel, and eating at the student center, which caters to a wide variety of food needs and allergies (please know that the kitchen is not kosher). A typical morning might start with breakfast, followed by tefilah, a group learning session and prompt and writing time. Afternoons consist of lunch, electives, writing time and a feedback circle. The day will conclude with dinner, tefilah, an evening activity and an open stage. And of course, jamming into the night for those who would like to stay up late and play. As you can see, there are multiple opportunities to teach, learn, and share your music.

In addition, this year we are trying something new- we will have a special guest for part of the retreat, David Roth. Here is some information about David: He has earned top honors at premier songwriter competitions, such as Kerrville (TX) and Falcon Ridge (NY). David’s songs have found their way to Carnegie Hall, the United Nations, Chicken Soup for the Soul books, the Kennedy Center, Peter, Paul, & Mary, the Kingston Trio, Christine Lavin compilation, NASA’s Goddard Space Center, and folk song books and “Rise Up Singing” and “Rise Again”. David runs the Summer Songs and Cape Cod Songwriting Retreat and teaches at songwriting workshops all over the world. I know that you will love his neshama and enjoy his talent and wisdom. Also, Eric Kilburn will be with us again for you to do a little recording, and Julie Plaut Warwick will be back as my assistant to help make sure things run smoothly.

This year, we will be starting a scholarship fund to help others who might need some financial assistance to join our community. It is very important to me, and I know it is to you as well, to have our tent be wide open in inviting folks to join us and for us to be as barrier-free as possible. If you are able, please make an additional contribution to help other talented artists to join us. (This information will be kept private). There has already been an incredibly generous donation to start this fund off, and we hope that you can help it to grow.
